One key part of your health is your connection to your community. And one way to connect with your community is to get involved and give back. Each Saturday, we feature different ways members of the Northshore Acupuncture Center community are rolling up their sleeves and giving back.

This week we are featuring Malik’s support for small businesses. Malik, the owner of Hip Circle Studio, has organized her network to participate in a monthly cash mob where the group makes purchases at a local independently owned business. Shopping local and independent shops is important for the health and vibrancy of our communities. Cash Mobs bring a lot of shoppers and attention to a single business each month to show support and to help them stay open in this challenging economy.  This month’s cash mob is TOMORROW 10/30 at Sweety Pies Bakery at 8042 Lincoln Ave in Skokie. Request to join the Facebook group CashMob by Malik to be informed of future month’s cash mob.

Remember that Small Business Saturday is 11/26. Purchase your holiday gifts at the Pop-Up Gift Shop at North Branch Yoga which features 17+ local entrepreneurs.

Your immediate financial support is needed to pack and ship more urgently needed meals to FMSC’s partners in the path of Hurricane Matthew.

Schedule Fall Treatment for $50

bench-forest-trees-pathNorthshore Acupuncture Center is offering a deal on fall tune-ups which is a group of points that will help make the transition to fall smoother. The cost is only $50 on Tuesday 10/4 & 10/11 and Wednesday 10/5 & 10/12 between 1-3pm. Call 815.814.1319 or schedule online.

Do you have a cough or sore throat? Have you noticed your skin issues are more aggravated? Have you felt sad or struggled with change? Your lung channel may be to blame. The transition to fall disrupts our lung channel which can cause some of those symptoms.

The change in seasons places additional demands on our bodies.  The body can have difficulty adapting to the change leaving us vulnerable physically and mentally, and therefore more likely to get sick or depressed.

Acupuncture is recommended at each seasonal change, with a particular emphasis on spring and fall when our bodies have to adapt more dramatically. A seasonal tune up with an acupuncturist can improve overall health by enhancing the body’s immune system to keep illness at bay.  A seasonal treatment can also provide a boost in energy levels, elevated mood and a sense of well-being.

A seasonal acupuncture tune up works in much the same way as getting your car serviced. Your body and mind can also benefit from a quick tune up to help you look and feel your best. In addition to smoothing the seasonal change to fall, an acupuncturist can notice patterns based on minor symptoms and address them before they become a more serious problem.
