Each Saturday, we feature different ways members of the Northshore Acupuncture Center community are rolling up their sleeves and giving back.

This week we are featuring Blanche’s work with the Village Treasure House and Deborah’s Place.
Blanche volunteers at the Village Treasure House, a unique, not-for-profit furniture and home furnishings consignment shop that supports 17 local agencies.  The Village Treasure House is looking for consignments, donations, and volunteers.
Blanche has also made monetary and supply donations and volunteered for two events for Deborah’s Place – Chicago’s largest provider of supportive housing for single women experiencing homelessness. They provide housing, healing and hope. Deborah’s Place has lots of opportunities to volunteer for just one day (leading bingo, landscaping, providing administrative support)- in addition to volunteering on a regular basis.  You can also make monetary donations, purchase items from their wishlist, or support an event benefiting Deborah’s place.

Connecting to the Community: Bob

BobOne key part of your health is your connection to your community. And one way to connect with your community is to get involved and give back. Each Saturday, we feature different ways members of the Northshore Acupuncture Center community are rolling up their sleeves and giving back.

Bob gets involved in his community by coaching his kids’ sports teams. Most recently he has been involved in coaching his son’s lacrosse team and his daughter’s hockey team.  If coaching isn’t your thing, you can still get involved by volunteering to coordinate the snack schedule for younger kids or by volunteering as a team parent/manager. You can support the coach by attending parent meetings, and making sure your child arrives at and is picked up from practices on time. Most importantly, the best way to get involved is to teach and model good sportsmanship.
