Connecting to the Community: Nate

11030383_10208011449145095_5262335363603398448_nOne key part of your health is your connection to your community. And one way to connect with your community is to get involved and give back. Each Saturday, we feature different ways members of the Northshore Acupuncture Center community are rolling up their sleeves and giving back.

Nate is busy with school, sports, clubs and friends so prefers doing one-time activities that he can fit into his schedule.

Some of his favorite places to volunteer include:

1)Helping bake and package Christmas cookie orders at Misiercordia Home. You don’t have to wait for the holidays to get involved. If you are 15 or older, you can volunteer to help out as waitstaff, kitchen help or a dishwasher for one of the Sunday brunches.  If you are 12 or older, you can help out with the 3,500 lbs of  laundry they do per day.

2) Cooking and serving a meal at Hilda’s Place in Evanston. This is a good way to get young kids involved in a family volunteer activity. You can sign up through the Connections for the Homeless.

3) Helping with the younger kids while the adults read to the children at Family Focus in Evanston.
