Connecting to the Community: Helena

IMG_0724One key part of your health is your connection to your community. And one way to connect with your community is to get involved and give back. Each Saturday, we feature different ways members of the Northshore Acupuncture Center community are rolling up their sleeves and giving back.

Helena volunteers at the Evanston Animal Shelter, a community adoption center dedicated to finding loving homes for the abandoned and abused dogs and cats that come through their door.

As an open-admission facility, the shelter accepts all homeless dogs and cats from Evanston, including those with special health and social needs. They are committed to providing the medical care, socialization, and rehabilitation the animals need to become treasured family members and enjoy the lives they deserve.

Watch the event section of their website for fun special events like the Saturday (8/6/16) Northwestern Theater block party and for ongoing monthly events like rescue readers where children will read to shelter cats as a way of readying them for their forever homes while the children practice their reading skills.

You can support the shelter by donating funds or supplies and or volunteering. You can select Evanston Animal Shelter Association as your charity of choice on AmazonSmile, and Amazon will donate 0.01% of your eligible sales to the shelter.
