What is your bedtime routine?

My bedtime ritual is to write in a journal about my day. I only write a very short paragraph but it helps me look back on my day and to
essentially “put that day away.”
What do you do during the day that has the biggest impact (positive or negative) on your sleep?
I don’t have any caffeine after noon.  I drink water after lunch and for the rest of the day. I sleep so much better without the caffeine.
If you have had a particularly challenging day and your normal bedtime routine isn’t enough for you to fall asleep, what do you try next?
If I have trouble falling asleep, I don’t turn on any lights or electronics. Instead, I keep my eyes closed and repeat either a few
short words or one word over and over.  Sometimes I repeat, “sleep” over and over in my head with my eyes closed and it almost always makes me fall asleep.  The key for me is not to panic that I’m not sleeping but rather to accept it and have faith that I will sleep soon enough and will be fine on whatever sleep I do get that night.
