Julie Schiffman, MSW, is an internationally recognized Expert EFT Practitioner. What is your bedtime ritual?
I attempt to disconnect from screen time by 8pm. I typically take a warm body shower before getting into bed (I don’t
love baths). I drink Nighty Night tea by Traditional Medicinals. Sometimes I use Tapping/EFT before bed or in the shower to help
decompress from my busy day. AND I always wear a sleep mask (Dr. Mercola Sleep mask with lavender) to
keep out any light. I LOVE this.
What do you do during the day that has the biggest impact (positive or negative) on your sleep?
If I am on my computer or phone past 9:30pm, this will definitely mess with my sleep. I might fall asleep right away, but if I have been on screens, I will most definitely wake up around 2am or so and have difficulty going back to sleep. I have to be very conscious of this!
I have also learned to get out of bed and walk around the house for a few minutes if I cannot get back to sleep immediately. Maybe do some tapping (although this stimulates some people so its not for everyone) to help me get back go sleep.
In the last 5 years, what new belief, behavior or habit has most improved your sleep?
Sleep is super important and I cannot function if I don’t have at least 7 hours of sleep. I have made it a priority to stick to my rituals to be sure I get what I need, although sometimes my body has a different idea of what is going to happen!
What purchase of $100 or less has improved your sleep the most?
Chiropractic has been life changing when it comes to my sleep cycle and hormones which play a huge part in whether or not I sleep
well…especially at certain times throughout my cycle. (I go every 3 weeks or so).
