Jennifer Zanotti is a WGN Radio podcast host.  She has been an Esthetician and Make-up artist since 2001, owning her own business “Jen Z’s Beauty & Wellness Services”, since 2007, and recently completing her certification in nutrition.

Jen is also  a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu purple belt athlete, competitor & instructor. (She is a Pan Am/Masters Worlds Medalist, IBJJF multiple time Gold medal champ & double gold champion.) Jen loves being able to combine her passions of beauty, wellness & jiu-jitsu all in one!

Her mission is to help EMPOWER, INSPIRE and MOTIVATE others to live a happier, healthier lifestyle. Nutrition, fitness, self-love, beauty and positive living are key areas of focus with her clients.

What is your bedtime ritual?

I make sure to do  last check of anything on my phone; messages, emails, social etc. so I can clear my mind of work stuff.  Then I always
like to shower the day off before bed or soak in a nice epson salt bath. Just to get relaxed, calm and rest my muscles from training. I  get
comfy and put a frequency on from you tube, usually listening to the same one for about a month with a certain focus/intent and I drift off to dreamland, always trying to get at least 7-9 hours of sleep per night.

What do you do during the day that has the biggest impact (positive or negative) on your sleep?

I do Jiu-Jitsu!  End of story!  It is such an amazing release for my mind/body/soul and allows me to sleep pretty hard and well.

If you have had a particularly challenging day and your normal bedtime routine isn’t enough for you to fall asleep, what do you try next?

I keep a stack of books next to my bed in case I can’t sleep.  I usually find that reading helps me drift back off.
